We have all heard the stories of 50+ year old airports being
threatened by litigation from residents of recently built homes. Golf
courses are apparently under a very similar attack.

I played a course in Chicago suburbs that had been in the bottom 10%
of Chicagoland courses, but recently had a many-million dollar
renovation, and is now in the top 10-20% of Chicago courses.

One would think that the homeowners along the course would be pleased
by this change of events, as it greatly improves their views and
property values. However, it seems that one homeowner is upset about
a new tee location (near their yard) and has succeeded in getting a
court order to move a tee box (significantly) away from their
property.

I do not know the entire history of the course, but certainly the
homes and course had co-existed for many years (20+).

Anyway, I thought this was an interesting parallel to what we are
seeing in the airport community, perhaps even more egregious, as it
seems crystal clear (to me) that homes on a golf course have a high
risk of having errant golf shots land in their backyard.

In retaliation, the golf course should sue the homeowner to move his driveway
away from the course because the cars in it distract the golfers.

This country needs an enema!
